Sometimes it's nice to have a little luxury in everyday rituals. Hand sanitiser has fast become a necessity of life, and as convenient and affordable as traditional hand sanitisers are, they can be unkind to the skin. Let's be honest, they don't smell the best either. H.A.N.D is more than a sanitiser, it gives us a sensory respite from the worries of everyday life. If you have to stress about touching door handles, at least your hands can smell great. It was created because we wanted a product that would not strip the hands and would smell like something we would actually enjoy using. We hope you do too.
Yes, all of our ingredients are from natural and plant sources and are suitable for vegans. However, natural does not always mean better. Do not even get Samantha started on this subject. No really, please don't. Essential oils are extremely concentrated, and are classified as volatile chemicals. A lot of natural hand sanitisers use citrus essential oils to scent their formulas, they are highly allergenic and can cause sensitivity so we chose not to use them. We have selected essential oils that are known to be antibacterial, however they are also quite gentle on the skin. Except Lemon Myrtle, if you have sensitive skin, avoid this one as it has higher levels of allergens.
All of our products are made in Melbourne from Australian ingredients. We use ethanol made from distilled sugar cane, and Aloe Vera straight from the farm in Queensland, and our essential oils with the exception of Bulgarian Rose are all Australian made, most are native Australian Botanicals.
Our Sanitising Scent is made with 70% ethanol, which is above the 60% recommended by the World Health Organisation in order for it to be effective. We worked with our amazing Cosmetic Formulator to ensure that the formula cleanses the hands and doesn't dry the skin out, which can compromise the delicate balance of our skin. Of course, you should always wash your hands, a hand sanitiser is good for when you are unable to wash your hands.
Anything that has a high ethanol content is not going to be all peace, love and mung beans towards your skin. Ethanol is what makes a sanitiser effective against bacteria. We have done our best to mitigate the drying effects of alcohol without compromising the efficacy with Hyaluronic Acid, kangaroo Paw, aloe vera, glycerine and panthenol, but if you have super sensitive skin or dermatitis like our friend Scott, be aware that any product with high ethanol content might upset your skin. Samantha says one of the reasons she created H.A.N.D is so she wouldn't have to listen to Scott complain about sore hands throughout the pandemic.
Due to H.A.N.D being an alcohol based product, we have to ship with a courier. If you live in a city, it will take a couple of days, if you live regional then about 5 days. All shipments are dispatched from Melbourne. You will receive a tracking number so you can see when your order will arrive. The courier will leave it in a safe place if you are not at home. No PO boxes unfortunately.
We have to ship with a courier due to hand sanitisers being classified as Dangerous Goods. The cost to ship to some parts of Australia is quite prohibitive , so we don't automatically ship there. If you find that you are not able to process your order due to shipping, please reach out to us and we can provide a shipping quote for you.
We sell them separately so you just need to buy a refill when you purchase again. Atomsiers are not recyclable, so we seek to reduce the amount wasted. Use them on the 50 and 100ml bottles for a larger size you can keep at home or on your desk.
We are able to ship overseas, it costs about AUD60 to to send internationally. If you wish to get your hands on H.A.ND (pun intended), please send us an email and we will provide a quote.
The splotchy thing is inspired by bacteria. When researching for the brand, we found a really cool image of Ecoli in a petri dish, we couldn't use it so we found something similar. As our friend Kirsty said, 'There is a lot of fear around bacteria at the moment, but it is actually quite beautiful', we forget the human body is teeming with bacteria that make up the human microbiota and it is essential to life.
